The HiPer-RAN (Highly Intelligent, Highly Performing RAN) Open Networks Ecosystem Project has been awarded the “Incremental Innovation” Future Networks Award by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and UKTIN. The award recognises projects that deliver significant advancements in network technologies through iterative and practical improvements.
HiPer-RAN earned this distinction for the development and integration of a NL-COMM, together with the required intelligent control, into Open RAN networks. The project demonstrated substantial improvements in spectral efficiency, connectivity, and power consumption, highlighting the potential impact of non-linear physical-layer processing within next-generation RAN architectures.
